Euchre Club Party

Our Wednesday night Euchre Club got together this week with a fun and festive meal.

They ordered takeout from a local chicken restaurant, and provided liquid refreshment and cake for dessert. Our euchre players have traditionally celebrated annually this way, but missed being able to dine together due to pandemic restrictions.

Heartfelt thanks to the organizers of this event for rising to the special occasion and making it an evening to remember.

Fond Farewell

Isington 2000 Bistro was the setting of a casual reception to say farewell to some dear friends who are moving away to a senior’s residence. A beautiful sweet table made for a festive atmosphere. Thank you to the organizers.

Christmas wreaths

A small group of residents got together to make Christmas wreaths.  Last week they met to gather the required materials and plan. Yesterday they met in the art/activities room to work together. Along with lots of laughs they went home with beautiful wreaths ready for the holiday season. A big thank you to the volunteers who planned and organized this very successful event.

Autumn at home

As the seasons change our grounds are still welcoming to those who step outside and make some time to interact with the natural surroundings. We encourage you to put on a jacket and take a stroll, or rest on one of the benches and observe our furry and feathered neighbours and the beauty of nature.

First ever Trivia night

On Thursday evening, September 22, we initiated Trivia Night. This will run every other Thursday evening alternating with Bingo.

The attendance on the first night indicated that we have a winner activity here. Twenty-two residents of all ages showed up.  Even the baby had a good time as we wracked our brains to remember, deduce and wildly guess at the answers to 25 tricky questions. The two winning teams (1st and 2nd place) were presented with a box of prizes and each team member allowed to choose a prize from it.

It was a most enjoyable evening, apparently not just for those who left with a prize. Thank you to the organizers. Come out next time and join in!

Fall Festival 2022

Last Friday evening residents of Islington 2000/2010 gathered poolside to celebrate the end of summer with a Fall Festival. This included a delicious meal, live music and entertainment, dancing, conversation and laughter – all around our beautiful pool deck. The temperature was a little lower than we had hoped, but we bundled up and warmed the evening with fun and friendship.

Thank you to the Social Committee for getting it right again – you are truly amazing. Enjoy some scenes from this special evening.
