Each spring the nine books for the following year are chosen, by vote, from a list of books suggested by club members.
Each month different people volunteer to supply tea and cookies.
And at the meetings each of us submits one or two questions about the book of the month. The questions go into a bowl, are chosen one at a time at random, and read out aloud to spark conversation. It’s always a wonder how much discussion, both serious and light-hearted, ensues.
During the pandemic our meetings have been held on Zoom. We are disappointed that we can’t see each other in person sharing tea and cookies, but grateful that our book club continues to flourish and inspire spirited conversation at Islington 2000.
Watch the bulletin board for reminders. All are welcome.
